getting made fun of for veiling

i love wearing a veil to church for my own spiritual protection, but every time i leave the house with it on, i just get completely clowned on by my parents. they keep telling me that only women studying to become nuns wear the veils and it’s not necessary, but i feel like when i veil, I’m blocking out all the negative energy and spirits and being one with God. she says it’s excessive. is it really excessive???? :(
